Voice Lessons
with Maggie Andersen B.Mus. Hons.
Maggie Andersen is a graduate of the Combined Honours in Music and Theatre Program at Dalhousie University, a program which allowed her to merge her passions for classical singing and acting. Maggie has played various roles in The Fountain School of Performing Arts’ productions and was grateful to have two seasons in the cast of Anne & Gilbert the Musical in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Most recently, Maggie placed first in the 2024 Emerging Artist Vocal Stream at the FCMF National Music Festival.
Maggie is thrilled to be working with the Chelsi Madonna School of Music as both an active member and the Assistant Director of Music for Quoir, as well as a private voice instructor.
Voice Lessons
with Joseph Goodwin B.Mus. B.Ed.
Joseph Goodwin (they/he) is a classically-trained vocalist with a passion for education. Joseph has seven years of experience in private one-on-one teaching and five years of classroom teaching as a public school music teacher. Joseph has taught people of all ages and all experience levels in both English and French.
Growing up first in Scarborough, Ontario and then in Sussex, New Brunswick, Joseph holds a Bachelor of Music from the Université de Moncton (2017), with a major in voice and a minor in piano. It was during this time that he kept himself busy with opera ateliers, ensemble works, and choral technique and performance.
Joseph is a member of the World Youth Choir alumni, has performed internationally with Moncton’s Chœur Louisbourg and has performed across Canada, touring four times with the National Youth Choir of Canada. Joseph was scheduled in 2020 to tour across five European countries and China with the World Youth Choir, which was regretfully cancelled due to the pandemic.
Joseph also holds a Bachelor of Education from Saint Francis Xavier University (2019). Since completing this second degree, they’ve been working as a full-time music teacher in the HRM for the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial. During the pandemic, Joseph began doing more recorded works: recording backing tracks for local folk music singers, choral parts for choirs across the country, and a recorded performance with the Halifax Camerata singers for the Internationally-acclaimed “Messiah/Complex” (2020), produced by the Against the Grain Theatre and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, Joseph performed with Symphony NS for their community concert series
When not teaching, Joseph enjoys spending time working out and hanging out with friends at Blended Athletics.
